Some go to ComicCon, others go to coin shows, some go to antique malls, and the rest go to…
ChristyFest™ is an annual festival held in Townsend, Tennessee to celebrate Christy the Classic novel by Catherine Marshall as well as the TV series and movies. Cast members, producers, writers, directors and crew from both productions come to ChristyFest™ to share memories, mingle with fans and enjoy the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains where the TV Series was filmed.
The festival began in 1997 as a small gathering of fans sharing their love for the television show and has continued to grow. While Christy is still our legacy, ChristyFest™ participants have expanded their interests to such attractions as mountain crafts, herbal medicines, music, history and early mountain culture. ChristyFest™ events and presentations also feature nationally known experts in a variety of subjects of interest to Christy enthusiasts.
ChristyFest™ attendees come from all over and newcomers are always welcome. If you are new, we have a special little corner to get you started. The engaging, down-home spirit of ChristyFest™ will soon embrace you – there is no doubt that many of the friendships made at ChristyFest™ will, in fact, last forever.
I saw a poster for this in a used book store today and just about wet my knickers. Each to his own, I guess.
Each to his own.

Dear friend,
A thought–Consider encouraging those who celebrate something wholesome like Catherine Marshall’s story of faith, rather than mocking them. As you’ve deftly pointed out, our culture is often ruthlessly godless. Christians needn’t tear down other Christians–there are others queued to have a go at it.
Kindly,
SB

Hiya,
It was interesting finding CF linked here and reading your comments. I’m sorry that ChristyFest[TM] might not be your cup of tea but in all fairness, you might want to give it a shot first. It’s a diverse festival that, yes, focuses on the book and series but also shares in learning about the Smoky Mountains, history, crafts and skills from the area [and the era]. Christy, by the way, is based off of a real lady and her experiences teaching at a mission. I appreciate SB’s comments – CF may not be everyone’s thing but it is a festival that focuses on faith and learning, friendship and fun and that’s what’s important.

My goodness. Didn’t expect such a response. Quite honestly, I wasn’t making fun. I just find these little niche events odd and especially odd since I watched the video series when I was younger and didn’t think that much of them. No worries, though. I have my own niche interests that other people find insanely weird all the time.
My apologies if I offended.
